Abstract
The ultrasonic velocity of liquids and liquid mixtures play very important role in understanding the nature of molecular interaction occurring in the system. In this paper presents experimental values of ultrasonic velocity (u), density (ρ), and viscosity values ( ) of pure1,4-dioxane, 1-methanol, 1-ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-hexanol, 1-octanol and their binary mixtures with 1,4-dioxane as a common component over the whole composition range at 303.15 K. From these data acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility ( , free volume (Vf), internal pressure (Pi), molar volume ( ), and their excess values are evaluated. From the properties of these acoustical parameters, the nature and strength of molecular interactions in these binary systems are discussed. The non-linear variation of these parameters shows the presence of interaction and their excess values is indicative of interaction between the components molecule in all systems.
